A woman was tragically killed after being involved in a head-on collision Halloween night in Harris County. The Harris County Sheriff's Office reported that the car accident occurred around 9pm near Moonshine Hill Loop. The woman was traveling eastbound when a driver traveling westbound swerved into her lane and collided with her head-on. The impact caused the woman's vehicle to collide with another vehicle.
When emergency medical services arrived, they immediately transported the woman to Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital. From that point, she was then transported to The Texas Medical Center. Sadly, she was pronounced dead just under four hours later, about 12:40am Friday.
The driver of the vehicle that swerved and hit her was also taken to the hospital. As far as authorities have said, the driver of that vehicle is in stable condition, but did suffer some injuries from the impact. The driver and passenger in the third vehicle involved were not injured. This crash is still under investigation as authorities are trying to determine what caused the driver to swerve into the opposite lane of traffic.
Head-on collisions are somewhat rare compared to other types of traffic accidents, but they have an extremely high fatality rate. While the cause of this accident has not yet been determined, head-on collisions such as this are commonly caused by driver intoxication, drug use, distraction / inattention or falling asleep at the wheel.
